Governing Councils work with the Principal to help set and monitor the direction of a site. We meet regularly to talk about the direction for the school. Our meetings are twice per term, Weeks 3 and 8 and start at 5 pm in the school library.
Benefits of being on Governing Council include:
• You get to share your thoughts and opinions
• You hear what other people think
• You become well informed about what is happening in our school
• You get to know other parents
• You get to understand how the school works
• You learn how things "fit together" at school
You don’t work alone when you are on a Governing Council. You and the Principal have shared responsibilities, but your day-to-day involvement is different.
Some differences between governance and day-to-day management
In your role on a governing council, you work with the site leader to:
• involve the local community
• develop and approve local policies
• set the broad direction and vision of the site
• monitor and review the site improvement plan (which refers to the education outcomes/priorities)
• be the employing authority of some services such as the canteen
Site leaders work with governing councils to:
• give educational leadership
• carry out the site’s policies
• carry out the site improvement plan
Please consider nominating yourself, contact Front office staff on 8386 1144 to put forward your nomination.

They are the traditional owners of the Adelaide plains in South Australia.
They are the land owners from a long time ago.
We recognise that the Kaurna people are still alive today.
We the students of Moana Primary recognise that Kaurna people still embrace and long for their land, beliefs and way of life.
This we recognise.
We walk in their footsteps
